In 1960 first strike for Interns all over India was led by Shamsher Singh Chouhan (1958 batch).

For the first time in the history of Medical Colleges in MP Interns and House officer associations was formed by Dr. N.D. Gargav and Dr. A.R. Dana in the year 1971. Dr. Gargav was elected as President of Bhopal and MP. One single day movement led to hike in salary of both interns and house surgeon along with improvement in working condition.

In the year 1972 Post Graduates also joined the association for the first time. Dr.N.D. Gargav was again elected as President Bhopal and MP. Once again a movement (No strike) was launched which led to increase in salary of interns and house officer and drastic changes in working condition of Post Graduates.

In 1972 R.A.F. private wards were converted in to residences for Post Graduates.

In 1973 the name "Junior Doctors Association" was coined. It's constitution was drafted by Dr. N.D. Gargav and A. R. DaIla.

Dr. P.K. Jaiswal was the first President of JDA (1973). An impressive and peaceful agitation (no-strike) designed engineered and steered by Dr. Gargav and Dr. DaIla resulted in formation of Naronha Committee to meet out demands of JDA. The Mr. Naronha the then Chief Sec. was the Chairman. Members of the committee were Dr N. D. Gargav, Dr. DaIla, Dr. P.K. Jaiswal, and one representative from each college.Certain land mark decisions by the committee which were implemented were as follows :
- Abolition of post of A.M.O. for MBBS graduates.
- Hike in salary of Interns and House officers by three folds
- And the third but most vital was salary of Rs.531/- to PGs and "Teaching Experience" to them. (Before 1973 PGs use to be honoraries and no teaching experience was given to them).
